Moonsnail

2008. Plastic beach toys, cigarette filters, disposable lighters, crack vial lids.

About the Project

Moonsnail (2008) is one of my first and very favorite pieces. Composed of lost beach toys, plastic cigarette filter tips, crack vial parts, and disposable cigarette lighters. If this doesn’t say “QUIT SMOKING” and “SAY NO TO CRACK”, I don’t know what does. Seriously. Just fucking quit.

In 2008, Moonsnail spent some time at Gallery 125 in Trenton, NJ as part of their Spring Fever exhibition.

Moonsnail was busy in 2009, traveling from the Beach Ball Festival in Sea Bright, NJ to the Arts in the Park Festival in Highland Park, NJ, where it won first place in both the “sculpture” and “green art” categories. Finally, it ended up at the Viridian Artists’ 20th Chelsea International Fine Arts Competition in New York, NY where it won a special recognition award.

After a three-year hiatus, Moonsnail made a comeback in 2013 at the Old’s Cool Group Exhibit at Artworks in Trenton, NJ; an invitational exhibition at the Art Alliance of Monmouth County in Red Bank, NJ; and the Clean Water Action Art Show and Open House in Sea Bright, NJ.
